Biography

Lindsay Crofts is a violinist from Chicago, IL.  She began studying at the Western Springs School of Talent and Education in Western Springs, IL at the age of three. As a classically trained musician, Lindsay has gained invaluable performance and teaching experiences.

At the young age of twelve, Lindsay began performing with the Chicago Consort, a violin ensemble that gives concerts nationally and internationally. She was a featured soloist on the ensemble’s Vivaldi Four Seasons CD and in 2005 she performed as a soloist with the Chicago Consort on their tour through China. These opportunities prepared her for a prosperous undergraduate career at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music.

Under the guidance of violinist Gerardo Ribeiro at Northwestern University, Lindsay was able to grow into a stronger performing artist. She was given solo opportunities in the Orchestras and performed in a number of different chamber ensembles over the four years. Northwestern provided opportunities to study under a variety of conductors and chamber coaches that have helped shaped her musicianship. During this intense study of violin performance, Lindsay also received her Instrumental Music Education Degree. Upon graduation, she received “High Honors” from the Music Education department and graduated cum laude in June of 2009.

Since graduation, Lindsay has made a difference in many lives by teaching young students to play a stringed instrument. She maintained a small private violin studio while also directing middle school orchestras in the western suburbs of Chicago. Now residing in Austin, TX, Lindsay directs a middle school orchestra in GISD and is a private violin instructor with the Suzuki Strings of Austin.

Besides her successful teaching career, Lindsay performs for special events such as weddings, parties, church services, concerts, holiday gatherings and everything in between. She has experience performing for television and  for special recordings. Her classical training allows her to perform just about anything you could imagine, including pop, contemporary, jazz, and fiddle music. Visit the Weddings & Performance page for more information!
